People & the artsThe Lily and the Prince Fills the Opera House
Reported in November 1903
A November 1903 theater report describes a crowded Shamokin performance.
Some details remain uncertainThe Lily and the Prince was performed at the G.A.R. Opera House in the sequence of engagements reported in November 1903. The Billboard’s correspondent said the production pleased a crowded house.
That short notice records an audience response, not simply a future booking. It also places the engagement at the opera house managed by J. F. Osier, rather than the separate Fraternity Theatre listed nearby.
The report gives the day number 3 without a full calendar date. It leaves the performers and ticket sales unnamed. The surviving account is a brief glimpse of one well-attended evening, not a basis for inventing its cast.
