A centennial history dates the Shamokin Band’s formal organization to February 10, 1890. The exact day is retained, while later membership and institutional continuity remain uncertain.

This Shamokin Band record is kept distinct from the later Shamokin High School Band and from any other ensemble that may have used a similar local name. A shared city or musical tradition does not by itself establish direct institutional continuity.
